Obituary for Celesta Jean Haugen

The Zahrbock Funeral Home announces the death of 85 year old Celesta Haugen of rural Dawson, MN who passed away on Monday at her home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Zahrbock Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Kendall Stelter will officiate at the service.
The family will greet family and friends starting at 1:00 p.m. on Friday for visitation before the service.
Burial will be in the Florida Lutheran Cemetery of rural Canby, Minnesota.
Celesta Haugen was born on December 19,1932 in Marietta Minnesota to parents William and Geneva (Border) Hanson. She was baptized immediately at birth and was confirmed in the faith at Florida Lutheran of rural Canby. She served as Ladies Aide president and Sunday School Superintendent and remained a member there until the church closed. She attended country school at District 76 and 100 and graduated from Madison High in 1950. On January 14,1951 she was united in marriage to Arnold Haugen at the Florida Lutheran Church. She followed Arnold to Alabama while he served in the army. After his discharge they returned and rented and later purchased the Art Melom farm. She helped with the dairy operation and farmed side by side with Arnold. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, bird watching, studying history, attending fiddle performances, restoring antique furniture, and researching genealogy. In retirement she worked at the LQP Historical Museum and setup many of the room displays there. She deeply loved her family and always put them ahead of her own needs.
Death came peacefully to Celesta on April 16, 2018 at her rural farm home.
She is survived by her daughter Dawn (Lowell) Tyler, grandsons Matthew Tyler and William (Tanya) Tyler, great grandson Joseph Paradis, brother-in-law Roger (Patty) Haugen and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brother-in-laws (Reuben Storlien, James Olson) and two sister-in-laws (Evelyn Storlien, Marion Olson).
