Obituary for Forrest Dessonville

The Zahrbock Funeral Home announces the death of 88 year old Forrest Dessonville of Madison who passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the Johnson Memorial Care Center, Dawson, MN.
Memorial services will be on at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Crossroads Lutheran Church in Dawson. Burial will be in the Lac qui Parle Lutheran Cemetery.
Rev. Sarah Carlstrom will officiate at the service.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2018 and a prayer service at 7:00 at
Crossroads Lutheran Church in Dawson.
Visitation will continue on Saturday before the services.
All military from the Dawson Legion are asked to meet to form an honor guard at the memorial service.Forrest was born on January 20, 1930, in Huron, SD to Fred and Bonnie Eastland. Due to his mother’s death, on his birth, he was adopted by Ed and Thelma (Bonnie’s sister) Dessonville.
He graduated from Winamac, IN High School, in 1947; he then attended South Dakota State University (SDSU) at Brookings, SD.
On March 27, 1953, Forrest married Anna Mae Vaala of Madison, MN at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church, rural Dawson, Minnesota, having recently observed their 65th wedding anniversary.
He entered the Army on April 15, 1953 as M.P. at Fort Lewis Washington. In 1958, they moved to Lac qui Parle County from Watertown, SD. There they did crop and dairy farming while raising their family.
Death came to Forrest on June 1, 2018 after a short stay at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, MN. He previously resided at the Veteran’s Home in Luverne, MN and Clarkfield Care Center under the care of Hospice.
He is survived by his wife Anna Mae of Madison, his six children; John Dessonville of Madison, MN; Clyde (Hope) Dessonville of Dawson, MN; Ronald (Monica) Dessonville of Dawson, MN, Lydell (Stacey) Dessonville of Red Wing, MN; Bonnie (Patrick) Ng of Kannoplis, NC and Anita (Gary) Rickert of Pennock, MN; 15 grandchildren; Justin, Toby, Adam, Matthew, Wesley, Christy, Melissa, Nathan, Timothy, Ming-Wai, Ying-Wai, Jun-Yue, Jun-Fung, Sarah and Christopher; 12 great-grandchildren; Emmett, Ayla Mae, Mazie, Myles, Morgan, Cameron, Teagan, Lucia, Abigail, Laura, Riley and Hazel.
He was preceded in death by one son, Paul Forrest Dessonville (age 2), his parents Ed and Thelma Dessonville, siblings; Angie Johnson and Norman Dessonville.
