In his life, he worked as a milkman for Oak Grove Dairy and later AMPI in Dawson. After retirement, he worked part-time at the local bakery just to keep busy. He spent a lot of time being an umpire for the local softball teams. He loved being around people, socializing with friends, placing bets on his favorite football team and "shooting the breeze" with anyone willing to listen. His hobbies were visiting his three Grandchildren, watching them play sports and following his favorite Minnesota teams on TV. A highlight for Jim was being able to see the Vikings and Twins when he could attend their games at their own stadiums.
