Obituary for Thomas Raymond Peters

The Zahrbock Funeral Home announces the death of 69 year old Thomas Peters of Nassau, Minnesota who passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 at a St. Cloud Minnesota, Hospital.

Funeral services for 69 year old Thomas Peters of Nassau were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Church of St. John’s Catholic Church, Ortonville, Minnesota. Celebrant of Mass was Father Brian Oestreich. Special music was provided by Pat Kunz, organist. The Honorary Military Group was the Marietta American Legion 156 and all of Tom’s Family and Friends. Active casket bearers were Joe Ruby, Mike Krejce, Paul Begnaud, Kevin Andreason, Gary Redepenning and Joel Stuckrath.
The concluding service and burial will be at a later date in Faith Lutheran Cemetery, Madison, Minnesota.
Visitation will be one hour before the services at the church.
Thomas Peters was born on July 17, 1948 to parents Leonard and Clara (Kiern) Peters in Ortonville, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at St. James Catholic Church in Nassau, Minnesota. He served his church by being an alter boy at St. James Church. Tom attended and graduated from Marietta High School, Marietta, MN. He served our country in the Vietnam War. After his military service, he found employment as a die caster for the Hartzell Manufacturing. He also worked as a prison guard for 10 years at the Appleton Prison.
In life, he enjoyed being with his family, friends and especially spending time with his nephew Keagan. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, fishing, playing pool, going to the casino and enjoyed working on older cars and pickups.
Death came to Tom on February 23, 2018 at a St. Cloud Hospital, St. Cloud, Minnesota.
He had reached the age of 69 years, 7 months and 6 days.
Left to mourn his death are Carol Matthies, sons; Tommy Peters of Milbank, SD, Jason Peters of Washington, Jamie Peters of Spring Lake Park, MN; Travis Peters of Spring Lake Park, MN; 2 grandchildren; sisters Marilyn Ketchum, Ortonville, MN, Darliss Cox of Beardsley, MN and Luella Randelman of Arizona, brothers Joe Peters of Milbank, SD and Jim Peters of Milbank, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Clara Peters, brothers Leonard and Arlin and nephew Michael Cox.
Blessed be his memory.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that the memorials be given to the American Heart Association.
