Theodore "Ted" Kveene Monday, August 20, 1923 - Saturday, August 26, 2017
The Zahrbock Funeral Home of Madison announces the death of 94 year old Ted Kveene of Madison who passed away on August 26, 2017 at his home. Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Madison Lutheran Home Chapel, Madison, MN. Nathan Kveene will officiate at the service. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2017 with the family present at the Zahrbock Funeral Home Chapel Ted was born August 20, 1923 in Jostedal, Sogn, Norway to Nils and Kristina “Stina” Kveene. He immigrated to USA at the age of 5. He graduated from Madison High School in May 1942. He enlisted in the Army in Feb. 1945, served in Okinawa, and was discharged Dec. 1946. He married Ardis Melby of Canby, MN on April 9, 1949. They resided on a dairy farm north of Canby where he also was involved in trucking. They raised 4 children there and moved to Rapid City, SD in 1970. Initially he was a real estate broker in SD. Then he did cross-country trucking as an owner-operator until retirement. April, 2012, he moved to Hilltop Residence assisted living in Madison, MN. In his lifetime, Ted enjoyed playing ball for the “Burr Bombers”, traveling and sightseeing with his wife, hunting, collecting guns, target shooting and picture puzzles. Survivors include three sons, Steve (Kathy) and Jeff of Rapid City, SD, Dan (Tammy) of Paintsville, KY; one daughter, Nancy Hinrichsen of Willmar; 9 grandchildren, Eva, Stephanie, Nathan, Megan, Heather, Laura, David, Kara and Tyler; 9 great-granchildren; one brother Alwood (Elois) Kveene of Madison, MN and sister-in-law Ardis Kveene of Appleton, MN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardis, his parents, two brothers Arthur and Obert Kveene and son-in-law, Michel Hinrichsen.
